Prokofieva's exceptional vocal technique is based on thorough training and wide-ranging international experience. Born in Russia, she graduated from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory post-graduate program, singing under Bolshoi Theatre soloist Klara Kadinskaya. In Italy she worked with Teatro Alla Scala pianist Mzia Bachtouridze and noted belcanto expert Luca Gorla. In London she enrolled at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, studying with Nick Sears. Her opera roles include Contessa in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Despina in the great composer's Cosi Fan Tutte, both performed in London's Benjamin Britten Theatre, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata and Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni, both sung in the Bolshoi Hall of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Véronique in Bizet's Le Docteur Miracle (London) and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (Moscow). The opera world has lauded Prokofieva's newly-released CD Russian Heroines, a selection of arias featuring Russian opera's greatest enchantments and Pushkin's greatest heroines, recorded with National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. "Sensitive and idiomatic singing from a real artist of a delightful collection of Russian operatic arias," commented conductor Lionel Friend. Prokofieva's first CD Mirror of Russia's Soul (2010) is a critically acclaimed collection of Russian romances, recorded with Stanislav Dyachenko. She has sung with a wide variety of orchestras and worked with famous conductors such as Gennadi Rozhdestensky, Michael Rosewell, Alexander Petuhov and Volodimir Sirenko. Her inspiring performances have helped her win several international awards. Prokofieva regularly appears in prestigious international music halls, including Cadogan Hall and Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall in London, Teatro Filarmonico Verona, Kiev Philharmonic Lysenko Collonaded Hall, East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, Tatar Grand Concert Hall (Kazan) and Rimini Teatro Ermete Novelli. |
